The depth of others

You never know and well that is not such a bad thing. I mean, if you were constantly aware, you'd go crazy. 'cause in a certain sense we all are crazy - trying to figure things out, make sense and meaning of things said, actions taken, furtive looks passed back and forth.

My neighbor and I have a typical neighborly interaction. I exit the casa and he may exit at a similiar moment and, "Hey Cory. How are you?" "Good. You?" yada yada. It is just kinda how things go. Not always though.

"Hey Cory, what's up?" "Oh, off to workout. My girlfriend and I are pregnant." (woa) "Dude, that's killer. Congratulations. How far along are you two?" "Oh, just found out." "This you first?"

Cory's a young-ish man. His girlfriend is younger. He's a bar owner and she works there flirtin' and making cash. Good people, young people with young people lifestyle. Very bling-y cars: oversized rims on a Caddy, Mercedes black and silver - tight. Late nights, late morning starts.

I have it all figured out, right? Right.

"No, my ex-wife and I had a kid but it died the day it was born." ugh. My heart broke, my eyes welled, and throat choked up some. "Cory I am so sorry." "Yea, was really the end of the marriage there too." I can't imagine. "I am really excited for you though!" (big smiles, push the ache low)

So, I will still interact with Cory in the nice, neighborly way. It is kinda just how things go. Not always though. Not always.
