I second that motion

I attended my first working meeting of the SRG last night. My first SRG gathering included lots of free beer, food, and a rowdy air of banter and laughter. As with most Soulard things, the meeting was productive but loose in it's working. There is a patience that under pins much that would otherwise cause yelling and screaming in other circumstances. I really respect the people who have lived and worked hard over many years to make Soulard a great community, open to all, and accessible for all.
As a former official in a leadership position of great import (High School Vice President of the Student Council), I was ready to follow Parlimentary procedure and contribute to a healthy, adult converstation. I mean hell, who else was ready to leverage monumental efforts to drive pint-sized dariy costs for 2% lunch milk down???
That is not eeexaactly what went down peeps. The microphone never left our president's lips and jesting and (poor) jokes were lobbed out at the group. All taken in stride ofcourse and in actuality, how serious does want to entertain passionate feelings about adding like forty new freaking stop signs? Safety: the trump card that stomps any reasonable exchange about freedom of movement, productive use of resources, or cost effectiveness. Cripes. So, a little joking to lighten up the seriousness was fine.
And nothing makes a meeting move along expeditiously like a social gathering with beer! to be had afterward. Kudos to the hosts, the Newhouse's on 9th and Emmet, for a great shindig and very cool house. The flat roof garage...I may ask to copy their design. I likey.
I thought of a new business goal for my little firm as I allowed the details of a profit and loss sheet to float over my head. It would be great to be able to support organizations like the SRG with a cash gift. 'This here flower pot donated by PB&J Houseworks' Nothing says, 'You are big money and successful' like a plastic flower urn sparsely popluated with dried up gardenias, set on a random street corner that dogs pee regularly on.
I move to close this entry. I second. The entry is now closed.
