Hi, it's me and it's on.

Let me catch you up since May...got a loan approved, am lined up with a disbursement agent, and have mowed over like ten bricks hiding in the weeds.
And now it's on. Demolition has begun in earnest. A one-man show less a few hours from my brother Brad who exclaimed, "Gosh, it would be tough to do this everyday. I'm tired." He's 22 years old. Wait...am I about to give credit to myself for being...old? gulp.
The best way to communicate what's up this week is to have you watch a movie of demo progress. Enjoy.

Cool vid. Tell me . . . what's left at this point. Is there actually an enclosed structure left?

Nope. I'ts pretty much an open structure with bracing for 'flying' brick walls. The brick walls are, as was common in the 1800's, load bearing walls. As such, they carry the structure load but also rely on that loading to keep themselves upright. Kind of a catch 22 when one starts to make major changes to these houses. In this case, previous owners made 'fixes' but destroyed integral supporting requirements actually making the situation worse. Add in time and neglect and you get to the condition today: very poor. But that's the fun part too.

And this is all that is left of the original structure? Two walls? Looks like a lot of fun. My father tore down our old victorian instead of doing restoration. I still have not forgiven him, and now live in the brick one story we built (on our own) with much less character. He did not have the fortitued and bravery you possess.
