It's an easy excuse...so's that one, and that one...

What? There are many things that have gotten in the way of progress and, hell, the fun in this project:

1) my framing contractor is a bum and has no honor in his life. He begged for mercy and help in the Holiday season, I helped, and now the next time I (may) see him is in court.

2) my roofing contractor(s) are negligent and don't care. Their crew screwed up my roof so bad, it has had to be removed and replaced. The only person more in denial about their dishonesty is Dick Cheny, and THAT guy has got some reallll issues folks. They will see me in court too.

3) My lawyer, a member of the Missouri Bar Association Ethics Committee, asked for a retainer and has not returned my phone calls for three weeks. Crap, and I wanted to go to court reallllyyy bad.

I have many reasons to note why I may be falling behind in my project schedule. It would be reasonable to use these troubling events. It would be acceptable really. Old salts of construction can note one of these events as common practice but three on one job??? please.

I have said before that when the going gets rough, you just show up and swing yer hammer. It is not that easy in the moment. You really don't see the point of siding only a part of the house. Why trim out only a couple corners and leave the others? I can clear the clean fill out of the back yard but the scrap lumber and refuse still remains.

why why why? Because if you don't, you will, to borrow a cycling phrase, "crack". You"ll crack friends. It is that moment when your body/psyche just...stops. One moment you are working very very hard, you're struggling but holding your own, then POW. It is done. Yer shot. You feel like shit and there is nothing you can do about it. You may bouce back but the edge has been lost and you can not return to prior form.

Maybe "bonk" comes to mind too, i.e., running a marathon and not hydrating/eating enough. Slam a few Gu's and a gatorade or two but...it is a rough go from there on out folks.

So I thank you. And I thank my support who are all around me and don't really know it. Sure, it's just a smile with coffee but shit sometimes that is the bright spot in the day.

So. So, let's not take an easy and acceptable route on this one. Let's keep showing up and swinging the hammer.

I think your beard is great, but I wonder if it distracted the roofers???
