The meeting on site with the engineer, a follow up with my architect, and a candid schooling from a kind roof contractor have me on the cusp of building permit applications. Kinda nervous really. It is that close. It hit home when the engineer casually mentioned I should shoreup the brick walls before tearing out all the framing. Duh. I was gonna get around to that. Sometime. Later.
Great news on the money front. 1) loan processing this week. Terms, I hope, are digestable. 2) Found an electrician that will charge me around 60% of the three other quotations and has been a sparky long enough to know what he's doing. Lastly, 3) may have found a plumber that may save 50% off the quoted pricing so far. Will have to find a means to pull permit, though. May be tricky. These are all good things. A tour of open houses in the area today showed me that asking prices have fallen off some.
One last note for the week. Soulard will be changing their Neighborhood group name from Soulard Restoration Group to something more...updated. The area is not up and coming anymore. It is here. It is thriving...well, as well as any under the current government. (Hey...it is my blog) In mentioning their rationale, the SRG stated they are an active, thriving community. They even have their own bike race! I submit this pic to show you who grabbed 2nd in a different race this past weekend and who hopes to defend his 'home' turf in the Soulard race this late summer.
Rock on, Dean

nice garage sale trophy
I'm going out to look for one this weekend too, just before I announce my win at the Clydesdale Crit.
I read this one with much interest, but have a question about the bowling figure on top of this trophy.
